For kcal/kg, divide by 10. For kcal per pouch, divide by the pouch’s grams and multiply by 100. Use complete and balanced food appropriate to your cat’s life stage.

How the estimate works

Resting energy requirement (RER) = 70 × body weight in kilograms^0.75. We show a maintenance range of 1.2–1.4 × RER for neutered adults, or 1.4–1.6 × RER for intact adults. The portion illustration uses the midpoint; individual needs vary. An established target takes priority over this estimate.

Treat calories are subtracted before dividing food calories between wet and dry food. Grams = assigned calories ÷ kcal per gram. Weekly amounts multiply the daily plan by seven; package counts round up for shopping only. They do not mean feeding whole packages each day.

Check body weight and condition over time with your veterinary team. Kittens, pregnancy, nursing, illness, obesity, underweight and unexplained appetite changes need an individual plan. The tool does not calculate those plans.
